Planning for Scout Sunday
Perhaps the best way to showcase Scout Sunday is to show what Scouts are about by being of service to your church. Many members may not even know there is a Scout unit there.
Discuss this with your pastor early enough where you both can be comfortable with whatever role you play. This is a way to show members that Scouts are an asset to the church, not just a financial drain.
Often units will:
- Provide all ushering for the services
- Adults/older scouts may do gospel readings
- Manage the collection/offertory
- Ask all unit members to attend service in uniform
Sometimes units will:
- Arrange to host any post-service fellowship
- Receive at least part of the offering that week
Remember that it's ultimately up to your religious leader what role Scout Sunday will take. Some churches don't even mention it.
